LIBRARY LENDING POLICIES
K-5th
- K-5th grade students may check out a total combination of 4 books and magazines at a time.
- Books and magazines may be checked out for 1 (one) week.
- Audiovisual materials K-5th grades may not check out audiovisual materials.
- Grace There is a one-week grace period for books and magazines.
- Renewals Items may be renewed one time, if there is no prior hold.
6th-8th
- 6th-8th grade students may check out a total combination of 8 books, magazines or audiovisual materials at a time.
- Books and magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks. There is a one-day grace period for books and magazines.
- Audiovisual materials may be checked out for 1 week. 6th-8th grades may check out one item at a time. There is no grace period for overdue items.
- HCA YA* books 6th-8th grades may NOT check out HCA YA books without a parent's signed permission.
- Renewals Items may be renewed one time if there is no prior hold.
9th-12th
- 9th-12th grade students may check out a total combination of 8 books, magazines and audiovisual materials at a time.
- Books and magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks. There is a one-day grace period for overdue items.
- Audiovisual materials may be checked out for 1 week. 9th-12th grades may check out two AV items at a time. There is no grace period for overdue AV items.
- HCA YA* books 9th-12th grades may check out HCA YA books without a parent's signed permission
- Renewals Items may be renewed one time if there is no prior hold.
Parents
- Parents may apply for a library card.
- Parents may check out a total combination of 15 books, magazines and audiovisual materials at a time.
- Books and magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks. There is a one-day grace period for overdue items.
- Audiovisual materials may be checked out for 1 week. Parents may check out two AV items at a time. There is no grace period for overdue items.
- Renewals: Items may be renewed one time if there is no prior hold.
Non-students
- HCA Library may be used for an annual fee. Contact the library or business office for further details.
Fines and Fees
- 5 ruble fine per book or magazine per day overdue.
- 10 ruble fine per A/V item per day overdue.
- 30 ruble fine per damaged barcode.
- 30 ruble fine per damaged magazine envelop.
- 30 ruble fine for a replacement library card
Holds and Reserves
If an item is checked out, a patron may place a hold on the item. The item will be held at the desk for three days after the patron has been notified it is available.If an item is available, it can be placed on reserve from any computer at HCA. The item will be held at the desk for three days. There will be no notification.
Lost and Damaged Book and A/V Fees
It is difficult to obtain books and audiovisual materials in English in Moscow; therefore the Library prefers to see the books returned. If a lost item is located and returned to the library, the replacement fee paid for that item will be refunded. The cost for replacing an item includes shipping.- Lost magazine issue 200 rubles.
- Lost Books 400 rubles.
- Lost Audio/Visual materials 500 rubles.
Note: A copy of the full library policy can be picked up in the library.
* HCA YA books are books designated by HCA to have sensitive material not suitable for younger readers. Students in middle school may read these books with parental permission.
