Elementary Academic Program

Grades k-6 Ages 5 - 12

Hinkson Christian Academy is committed to providing a quality academic education while integrating Biblical principles into each subject area. Classes are taught in English. Most students are required to take Russian language classes unless they are enrolled in our ESL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program.

The following core subjects are taught: Foundations, reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies. Students also take physical education, music, art, and library. Students are given the opportunity to develop their talents in fine arts through musical and dramatic performances in the fall and spring. Our Little Huskies teams participate each year in basketball and soccer, competing with students from other international schools in Moscow. Weekly assemblies are a significant part of our elementary program.

With the exception of Russian language, our curriculum comes from North America. Teachers are encouraged to contextualize content to the multicultural makeup of their students. For example, Russian money, the metric system, and traditions from different cultures are included in lessons.

Students take the "Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) tests three times each year to monitor and assess continued growth in math, reading, language arts, and science.
